About the Edmontosaurus
When you think of paleontology you think the only information we have of dinosaurs are their skeletons. Edmontosaurus is one of the few dinosaurs we know almost anything about. Paleontologists have mummies of Edmontosaurus giving us an insight to their skin, hooves, and beaks. This was significant for paleontology, it allowed us to see an entirly new view on duck billed dinosaurs.
Edmontosaurus was a herbivore in the Hadrosaur family – standing about 13 meters tall, the size of a schoolbus. This hulking dinosaur was a herd dinosaur, known by fossils of footprints. Edmontosaurus used its herd for defence the stronger ones on the outside and the juvenile, sick, and elderly on the inside. Just like elephant herds and wolf packs we see today.
Edmontosaurus similar to most of the other duck bills, had a head crest. Edmontosaurus’ was made out of bone and was most likely, for the males, extremely colorful. Which was probably used for courtship. Knowing how much I love Edmontosaurus it is so cool to see these beautiful creatures come to life slowly with science.
